Inner Harbour Marina to Peter Island

The day starts early.  I had trouble getting to sleep last night as my arm muscles ached so much from the scrubbing, and once awake at 6, I can’t get back to sleep.

Frustrating phone calls to Liat reveal nothing.  There are flights due in from St Martin but they do not know if the luggage is on them and will only know about an hour after they arrive.  Even a visit to the local Liat office in Road Town throws no light on the situation.

Allison and I need to do the provisioning.  As we wander along the road to the supermarket, I am so overcome with happiness at having a friend from home that I give her a big hug.  She understands how important having a little bit of home is when you love abroad, from her time in Amsterdam.  At Bobby’s we overfill two huge trolleys.  Getting a driver to deliver it back to the boat takes ages but eventually we get one although we have to pack everything in ourselves as the driver is nowhere to be seen.  He arrives with a cheery smile but cannot take us in the truck with him as there is only one seat so Allison and I hotfoot it back to the boat.

He arrives a few minutes later and we leave everyone to load up the boat while we go to Supa Valu to buy the seafood and chicken.  After a bit of a mix up with the credit cards, which throws the staff a bit, we head back once more to the boat.

There is still no sign of the luggage, and Allison is unsure how much stuff (ie toiletries and the like) to buy to tide them over.  The situation is so frustrating.

We have lunch sitting in the cockpit but it is so hot in the marina it’s uncomfortable so we decide to go over to Peter Island, knowing that if we get all the way over there, we are sure to get a phone call telling us to return because the luggage has arrived!

In the event, this doesn’t happen, but at teatime, John, phoning Liat once again is told that the bags have arrived and we can pick them up in the morning.  Everyone sleeps better that night!
