Marigot to Anse Marcel

Just after 6.30 Mike and I are awakened by Ann announcing that she has made a pot of tea.  When someone brings you unsolicited tea in the morning, grumping at them for waking you up seems a little unfair but I do it anyway, as I love my tea but hate to be woken up!

Ann is nearly as bad as Heather for constantly washing up.  She is not even aware that she is doing it half the time and I have to practically restrain her.  Breakfast seems to straddle nearly an hour so that’s potential for a lot of washing up.

David goes out early to buy bread and papers but finds no shops open and comes back empty handed.  No croissants today.

We leave Marigot around 10.30.  The weather has finally cleared up and Alice and Cat are eager to set sail.  It is a lovely sail up the coast, passing Grand Case and Anse Marcel, heading towards Anguilla before rounding the corner to Orient Bay.  Our speed varies from 4 to 8.5 knots;  the wind is awkward enough to cause us to constantly tack.  We arrive in Orient Bay just after 12.  This is the first time that I have seen the bay from the sea instead of from the land.  Thankfully I don’t see any of the men aboard picking up the binoculars to check out the nudist beach.

After lunch, Terry, David and Cat swim ashore and the rest of us go in the dinghy.  There is quite a surf and getting out of the dinghy is easier for some than others.  Alice and I manage it well;  Vivienne and Ann are less than dignified but do not suffer any injuries to anything but their pride!

We wander up the beach looking for Monica and Nick at the Kontiki Beach Bar.  They have been lunching with friends from Virgin Gorda who have now flown back, and we now arrive to take their place.

Introductions all round then the girls go off to the beach while we stay with Nick and Monica chatting.  Tales of Leverick Bay soon lead into Nick telling us how he applied Leverick Bay tattoos to the naked bottoms of five nubile young ladies last night and the females in our party let him demonstrate once more how this is done.

David is also part of the tattoo party.  Although he is less enthusiastic about taking part, Monica will not take no for an answer but she rewards him with a kiss to make up for his embarrassment.  Terry, Vivienne, Mike and myself keeps well out of this!

We leave having discovered that Monica and I will be in the UK at the same time.  Watch out London!

Getting back into the dinghy is as undignified as ever for some.  David gallantly lifts Vivienne and Ann in, Cat manages it gracefully and Alice launches herself headfirst!  David, Terry and I wait for the second round.  While I am waiting, standing in the surf, a young guy on a body board nearly knocks me flying but eventually we are all safely back on board.

We motor round the corner to Anse Marcel and anchor up for the night.  After dinner, I catch up with my blog, Ann, Terry and Mike go to bed, and the others stay up and play Scrabble.
