A slow day today at the boatyard. We touch up bits of paint that we have missed on the crossbeam. Sean, the radio fitter fails to turn up although we can see his car in the yard. The riggers nearly finish – everything is done except two tiny jobs – something to keep the main sheet off the bimini roof and something else which escapes me.

Louis fixes the second roof panel back into place over the salon which makes the place look more normal. We just have one hole where a piece had to be cut out – there was no other way of bolting the clutches into position. Chatting away, Louis tells us how they had to build a separate “mess room” for the workers to eat so that they didn’t frequent the bar. Apparently they had a habit of lying down on the tables after eating and going to sleep, which rather put off the other clientele!
For lunch we finish the okra curry I made yesterday, then in the late afternoon Sean turns up and fits the antennae for the radio. A bit more progress at last.
Mike manages to track down Nicholas who insists we will be in the water on Wednesday. Not Monday you notice. Wednesday. By the time we are ready to leave, we are both a bit fed up. We know nothing happens fast in the Caribbean but when you have a deadline, accepting that fact can be really difficult.
We get back to the cottage, shower and almost immediately go down to eat. Dinner is mediocre and expensive which is why we don’t eat here much. We discuss our plans for Christmas. Plans? We can’t plan as such until we know when we back in the water. Mike had thought we could get to Mustique which would have been lovely. I fancied dinner at Firefly and drinks at Basil’s Bar but that is out of the question now even if we get in the water on Wednesday. Ah well, nothing we can do about it but wait and see.
