Johanne is still in love with the shoes today, so after showering and hairwashing, we go ashore to have another look while Mike goes off to sort out a hire car.
Getting on and off the boat is a horrendously difficult process for Johanne in St Barths, (well anywhere really). I am very practised and have long legs. Johanne is short on practise and short in leg length. I hop off quite easily leaving Johanne dithering at the back of the boat. Steve pulls Jeannius towards the dock, she puts one foot on the side and aims the other one towards the dock, then stops. I grab her arm to pull her and down she comes, but unfortunately without letting go of the boat with the other arm and as she lands on the dock, she crashes the inside of her arm into the railings. She bruises easily anyway, and within seconds her arm is swelling and you can see a bruise forming. But she doesn’t stop in her tracks as the shoes are still waiting! Such is the price of gold sandals!

We go off round the island looking for places we didn’t see when we were here with my sister a few weeks ago. Stopping for another little shop, Johanne manages to find two more pairs of shoes to add to her collection.

As it is getting near lunchtime, we go back to St Jean and head for the restaurant on the beach that we liked so much last time – the Pink Parrot. It is less crowded this time and so is the beach, but the atmosphere and the food are just as good.

Johanne and I go for a wander further along the beach and discover that the end of the airport runway is actually ….. the beach. I wait for ages for a plane to take off as they go straight over the restaurant, and even though they are only small ones, it still looks pretty spectacular, but I miss the only one which takes off and eventually we leave.
We go around some more of the island looking at some of the fabulous houses but it’s so hot in the car even with the air conditioning on full blast that we decide to call it a day.

Back on the boat my bed beckons to me so I get in and fall asleep, only coming to some time later when Johanne is searching for an ingredient for dinner. She makes pork in mushroom and garlic sauce which normally goes with rice but the gas bottle runs out and Mike can’t be bothered to go out and fill it. We have it with bread instead and watch the remainder of series one of Gavin and Stacey. It was a lovely day!
Jean, I know your glad to have Johanne there finally. SOunds like you all are having fun.
