The day starts with yoga again but there’s still no end in sight for those tight hamstrings!
Shortly after I get back to the boat, the generator guys arrive to fix the problem which started after we arrived here – ie the problem of the generator not starting at all. Oh yes, that one! One of them disappears taking our manual with him and never reappears and and although the one left behind is able to fit the new connection that has broken and the generator starts, the one that should be able to deal with the voltage problem never reappears and it seems we will now have to wait until Monday.
This is so frustrating. The bloody generator is mucking up yet another part of our journey. We have had to wait around for workmen and parts ever since Tahiti on and off and it is really bugging me. We had wanted to hire a car for a few days but now, here we are again, waiting! We are both fed up.
I go out and buy some nice French pastries to cheer us up; panninis and disgusting (meaning wonderfully fattening of course) chocolate éclairs, which are so wonderfully disgusting that even I can only eat half of one. Mike manages to shovel it down even after scoffing his French take on a bread and butter pudding delicacy.
Feeling suitably laden down stomach-wise, I go shopping with Heidi who is looking for something grown up to wear but we find nothing that takes her fancy except a dressing gown like mine.
We go over to the happy hour at a local hotel and end up just having a couple of drinks and some finger food. We talk to Bev and Moe about a house on the beach that we could share (quite a group are doing this) but again we can’t firm anything up until we know what is happening with the generator. Bev also tells us about the horse racing event which is held here on the island every Saturday and arrange to go with them tomorrow. We need to get out of the marina.
Being still fed up and tired we are both ready to leave by the time the dancing and party really gets going.
